- Warming again Monday and Tuesday, to near record high
  temperatures Tuesday.

.SHORT TERM /Through Thursday Night/...
Windy and cool today under the base of a broad upper trough
with very strong westerly flow aloft. Westerly gusts will reach
40 to 45 mph this afternoon in the western Magic Valley and
southern highlands, just short of Wind Advisory criteria. Today
will be the coolest day of the next seven with highs in the 30s
in the mountains to mid 40s in southern valleys. The upper
trough will exit east tonight and an upper ridge off California
will build strongly inland across the Great Basin Wednesday and
Thursday, resulting in rapid warming in our CWA. High temps
Wednesday should average 10 degrees warmer than today, and
Thursday another 8 degrees or so. Light snow showers will
continue in northern mountains through Thursday but the snow
level will rise to at least 6000 feet Thursday changing snow to
rain in the northern valleys.

.LONG TERM /Friday through Tuesday/...
Warm weather and gusty winds are expected Friday as weak ridging
raises temperatures to 10-15 degrees above normal. While the primary
storm track will remain north, expect a 50-70% chance of precipitation
to prevail across northern Baker County and west-central Idaho
with snow levels between 6000-7500 feet MSL. Beginning Saturday,
a powerful cold front will arrive and spread precipitation chances
farther south into the rest of SW Idaho and far E Oregon. This
front will drop snow levels to 2500-4500 feet for the north and
5000-6000 feet across the south. However, strengthening mid-level
winds will create valley shadowing effects, restricting most of
the precipitation over the higher terrain in these areas. This
transition will also trigger strong winds at the surface,
especially in south-central Idaho where winds greater than 40
mph are expected Saturday afternoon. At this time, there is a
60% chance that winds will reach 50 mph across the Magic Valley,
and a 95% chance for Camas Prairie. These conditions could
damage tree limbs and make travel difficult for high-profile
vehicles. Daytime temperatures are forecast to be 5-10 degrees
cooler compared to Friday, with Saturday night temps lowering to
near/below freezing.

By Sunday, the front will exit to the east, leaving behind breezy
conditions and a few more degrees of cooling. This will be short-
lived, however, as a warm upper level ridge centered over California
builds into the region Monday and Tuesday. This setup will promote
mostly dry conditions and a significant warming trend. By Tuesday,
lower elevations may see temperatures climbing into the 70s for the
first time this year.

the KBKE-KMYL area this morning, lasting through this evening.
Clouds lower in precip, obscuring mtns and reducing conditions to
low VFR-MVFR. Surface winds: W-NW 5-15 kt, gusts 20-30 kt return
this afternoon. Winds aloft at 10kft MSL: W 25-45 kt.

KBOI...VFR and mostly cloudy. Surface winds: W-NW 4-9 kt, winds pick
up to 5-15 kt with gusts 20-25 kt this afternoon.
