...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN KERN COUNTY THROUGH
545 PM PDT...

At 426 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms near Edwards AFB, or 18 miles north of Lake Los
Angeles, moving north at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs. This area is prone
         to flash flooding with small amounts of rainfall. Beware
         that a quick quarter or half inch of rain can make roadways
         hazardous.


Locations impacted include...
Ridgecrest, California City, China Lake Acres, Randsburg, Inyokern,
Edwards AFB, Boron, Government Peak, Laurel Mountain, and North
Edwards.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
