Issued at 221 AM PDT Mon Aug 5 2024 Warm temps continue early this week. Hot Tuesday where a Heat Advisory has been issued. Cooling trend kicks off Wednesday with normal temperatures expected by the end of the week. && .UPDATE... Issued at 900 AM PDT Mon Aug 5 2024 Widespread stratus is beginning to lift and recede back towards the coast this morning. The forecast remains on track with a Heat Advisory in effect from 10 AM to 10 PM tomorrow for the Santa Clara Valley, Eastern Santa Clara Hills, Southern Salinas Valley, and interior portions of Monterey and San Benito Counties. No anticipated changes to the forecast at this time. && .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Tuesday) Issued at 243 PM PDT Mon Aug 5 2024 An upper-level ridge will provide the area with a brief warm-up and a compressed marine layer. According to the profilers, the marine layer is currently sitting at about 1,200 feet in Fort Ord and a touch shallower at about 1,100 feet in Bodega Bay. Tomorrow will be the warmest day of the week. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 AM Tuesday through 10 PM Tuesday for the Santa Clara Valley, Eastern Santa Clara Hills, Southern Salinas Valley, and interior portions of Monterey and San Benito Counties due to widespread moderate HeatRisk with isolated spots of major HeatRisk. Moderate HeatRisk affects most individuals sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. For those at risk, reduce time in the sun during the warmest part of the day, stay hydrated, stay in a cool place during the heat of the day, move outdoor activities to cooler times of the day, and for those without air conditioning, use fans to keep air moving and open windows at night. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday night through next Sunday) Issued at 243 PM PDT Mon Aug 5 2024 A gradual cooling trend kicks off Wednesday with a return to near normal temperatures expected by Thursday and persisting through the weekend. There are currently four Tropical Storms in the Eastern Pacific to be made aware of: Carlotta, Daniel, Emilia, and Fabio. While not forecast to have any direct impacts to the area, these Tropical Storms may bring an influx of moisture to the area in the form of mid-to-high clouds. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1048 AM PDT Mon Aug 5 2024 IFR and LIFR CIGS are eroding around the inland areas and the bays, but will stay along the cause through the day. Expect Some moderate to breezy winds for the TAF sights this afternoon through the evening, before winds weaken again. IFR/LIFR CIGS move inland again later this evening and overnight with some pockets of mist. CIGs start to erode in the late morning and early afternoon on Tuesday as breezy winds build. Vicinity of SFO...Becoming VFR this afternoon with westerly breezy winds. Expect winds to reduce into the early night with IFR CIGS filling over the SF Bay. CIGs last into late Tuesday morning before clearing, followed by breezy westerly winds arriving that afternoon. SFO Bridge Approach...Similar to SFO, clearing slightly sooner than the terminal Tuesday morning. Monterey Bay Terminals...Becoming VFR this afternoon as CIGS erode and retreat. Low clouds will stay along the immediate coast and along the bay. Winds become more moderate this afternoon with a few breezes at the terminals. IFR CIGs move inland and fill over the terminals this evening and into the night winds reduce. Mist looks to affect visibilities overnight with CIGs lowering to LIFR levels. VFR and moderate winds return Tuesday afternoon. && .MARINE... (Today through Saturday) Issued at 900 AM PDT Mon Aug 5 2024 Expect breezy northwesterly winds gusty conditions for the outer waters, with light northwesterly winds continuing across the inner coastal waters. Across the northern outer waters, seas will become rough and wave heights will build to 8 to 10 feet by Tuesday.
