The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Greene County in southwestern Illinois...
  Eastern Pike County in west central Illinois...

* Until 945 AM CDT.

* At 857 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from
  near Beverly to 6 miles southeast of Louisiana, or along a line
  from 15 miles northwest of Pittsfield to 6 miles southeast of
  Louisiana, moving east at 55 mph.

  HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to
           mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
  Perry, Griggsville, Detroit, Chambersburg, Milton, Pearl, Bedford,
  Montezuma, Kampsville, Hillview, Eldred, Patterson, White Hall,
  Roodhouse, Carrollton, Wrights, Athensville, Greenfield and
  Rockbridge.

This includes Interstate 72 near exit 35.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Anyone outdoors should move to shelter inside a well-built structure
and stay away from windows. These storms are capable of producing
widespread damaging winds.

Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter
immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built
structure.
