.KEY MESSAGES...
- High temperatures today about 10 degrees below normal with
  rain and snow showers possible in the west-central Idaho
  mountains.

- Widespread showers late Monday night through Tuesday morning,
  with more showers Wednesday, heaviest on northern mountains.

- Warming and drying Thursday through Saturday.

.SHORT TERM /Through Tuesday Night/...
At 2 AM MDT a reinforcing cold front could be seen on satellite
extending from NW Montana through Grangeville ID southwestward
through Steens Mountain to Lakeview OR, supported by a short
wave trough from the main upper low in northern WA. The cold
front will move eastward through our CWA today bringing further
cooling and maintaining gusty west/northwest winds through the
day.  Monday looks mostly sunny and warmer after tonight's
upper trough exits east, and ahead of the next north Pacific
cold front forecast to arrive Monday night. That system will
bring rain to all areas late Monday night through Tuesday
morning, heaviest in northern areas where .25 to .75 inch is
expected, including up to an inch of snow above 6000 feet MSL.
But .10 to .20 inch of rain should also fall on the Snake Basin.
Tuesday's system will exit east later in the day but one last
surface cold front and supporting upper trough are forecast for
Wednesday, with showers from that system mainly in the north.

.LONG TERM /Wednesday through Sunday/...
A warming and drying trend is forecast for Thursday through
Saturday with further upper troughs staying north of our CWA,
but close enough for occasional cloudiness in northern areas vs
mostly clear skies in the south. A stronger upper trough may
bring cooling and gusty winds to Idaho on Sunday but not all
models yet agree.

.AVIATION /06Z Sunday through Monday/...
Issued 1143 PM MDT SAT JUN 6 2026 VFR. Mid-level clouds with
ceilings 8-10kft MSL over e-central Oregon and w-central Idaho
through Sunday morning. Surface winds: W-NW 10-20 kt with gusts
to 30 kt through 12Z Sunday, remaining elevated in the Snake
Plain east of KBOI after 12Z. Winds aloft at 10kft: W 15-25 kt,
becoming NW after 18Z Sunday.

KBOI...VFR. Surface winds NW through Sunday, gusting to 25 kt
overnight, then settling to less than 15 kt after 16Z Sunday
morning.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Red Flag Warning for gusty wind and low humidity this
afternoon through sunset (9 PM MDT) for the western twin Falls
BLM and southern highlands in south-central Idaho. Conditions
will improve Sunday night as winds decrease and humidity
increases.
